Visual Arts Teacher
Teaching Background
I've had a passion for art for over two decades, with a strong foundation in design, color theory, and composition. My journey as an educator began at the young age of 19, and I've had the privilege of teaching both children and adults across various age groups throughout the years. It's been a fulfilling and rewarding experience to share my artistic knowledge and inspire others on their creative paths. My teaching philosophy is to" create a safe and caring community within the classroom where students can freely express themselves and thrive. The goal is to foster a supportive environment where students can feel empowered and develop both academically and personally. I hold the belief that every child possesses unique qualities and talents that enrich their educational journey. My commitment as an educator is to empower my students to express themselves authentically, fostering self-acceptance and celebrating the diversity of their peers. In every classroom, a distinctive community forms, and my role as a teacher is to guide each child in realizing their individual potential and preferred learning methods. I design a curriculum that accommodates various learning styles and connects the content to students' daily lives. This will involve hands-on experiences, collaborative learning, projects, thematic approaches, and independent work to ignite and facilitate their learning process.

My teaching portfolio encompassed a range of design-related subjects, including advanced design, design concepts, interface design planning, and UX design for both mobile and web platforms. Their pedagogical approach emphasized the critical skills and knowledge that students needed to acquire. This included understanding the target audience and their needs, conducting thorough user research, analyzing competitors, and aligning with the overarching business goals. These fundamental principles served as the bedrock upon which students could base their design decisions. I also stressed the importance of clearly defining project objectives, identifying the scope of design, creating user personas to empathize with various user types, and structuring content and functionality through user flows, wireframes, and sitemaps. I was involved with students pursuing a Diploma in UI/UX Design. My subject involvement included:
-
Advanced Typography and Design
-
Design Concepts
-
Interface Planning and Design
-

In 2023, I had the privilege of teaching mixed media and sculpting to a group of talented young students ranging from 8 to 12 years old at Place Des Art in Coquitlam BC. During the program, they acquired essential skills in crafting textures and employing diverse elements within a composition. The students honed their sculpting abilities with clay, fashioning it into various objects such as birds, flowers, and leaves. What made this experience truly special was their opportunity to interact with the tangible results of their creativity, as they integrated their clay sculptures into painted mixed media artworks. Through this process, they not only grasped different artistic forms but also recognized the connections between them. Examining three-dimensional objects from multiple perspectives enhanced their capacity to mold clay into distinct shapes. Furthermore, they learned the art of envisioning and cutting colored paper into various pieces to construct intricate scenes, adding clay elements to enhance their visual appeal, and exploring a rich spectrum of textures. It was a truly enriching artistic journey for these young creators:

Arts Council of New Westminster (Art Instructor) 2022-2023
I taught some workshops in New West artists like sculpting. During this workshop, my emphasis was on sculpting human heads and delving into the concept of proportions. Participants used clay material to craft diverse characters. The primary objective was to explore every facial component, shaping them manually. Each individual crafted a distinctive character reflective of their personality. The intriguing aspect for the students revolved around refining and engaging with each facial feature while creating the desired shapes. They acquired the skills to initiate with a fundamental round shape and progressively develop it into the various parts of the face, even learning how to emphasize certain features with boldness and volume:
